In the Field Participating in the HOSTS Program at a local middle school.

This semester students enrolled in ED 312-Methods and Materials for Teaching Mathematics and Science participated in a pilot program that will form a collaborative partnership between the Dillard University Division of Educational and Psychological Studies and local middle schools.  We are taking the first steps to move teacher education from the university to the school site.  By developing the "STUDENT-MENTOR-TEACHER" model for field experiences,  students were given an opportunity to mentor/tutor middle school students through the HOSTS program, colloborate with middle school teachers and participate in class activities. Candidates expressed real satisfaction with the work they achieved at the school site with middle school students.
